Day 1 – Arrival in Jakarta (Overnight in Jakarta)

Upon arrival at the hotel, you will meet your Tour Leader, who will warmly welcome you and provide a brief overview of the tour itinerary, travel arrangements, and important information for the upcoming journey.

Day 2 – Jakarta – Bandung (Overnight in Bandung)
Good morning!

After breakfast, we will begin our sightseeing tour in Jakarta before continuing our journey to Bandung.

Our first stop is Jakarta Old Town (Kota Tua), where we will visit the iconic Fatahillah historic buildings. During the Dutch colonial period, Kota Tua, formerly known as Batavia, served as the administrative centre of the Dutch East Indies and the headquarters of the Dutch East India Company (VOC – Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie). Today, its well-preserved colonial architecture is recognised as an important part of Indonesia’s cultural heritage.

We will then continue to Sunda Kelapa Harbour, Jakarta’s oldest harbour, which has been operating continuously for more than 500 years. Traditional wooden Phinisi schooners can still be seen loading and unloading cargo, offering a glimpse into Indonesia’s rich maritime history.

Please wear comfortable clothing suitable for the weather and bring drinking water, a camera, sunscreen, a hat, a raincoat in case it’s raining and any personal necessities.

Day 3 – Bandung – Yogyakarta by Morning Train – Nglageran Village (Overnight in Nglageran Village)
Good morning!

After an early breakfast, we will transfer to Bandung Railway Station to board the morning train to Yogyakarta. This scenic rail journey is considered one of the most beautiful in Indonesia, passing through lush rice fields, rolling hills, rivers, charming villages, and volcanic landscapes, offering an authentic glimpse of daily life in rural Java.

Upon arrival in Yogyakarta, we will continue our journey to Nglageran Tourism Village, located in Gunung Kidul Regency, approximately two hours from the city. Recognised as one of Indonesia’s best community-based tourism destinations, Nglageran is nestled at the foot of the Ancient Volcano and is well known for its commitment to sustainable tourism and environmental conservation.

After checking in at a local homestay, take some time to relax and experience the warm hospitality of the local community. In the evening, enjoy a traditional home-cooked dinner prepared with fresh local ingredients while learning about the village’s culture and way of life.

Day 4 – Nglageran Village – Prambanan Temple – Yogyakarta (Overnight in Yogyakarta)
Good morning!

After breakfast, we will begin the day with a guided trek to the Nglageran Ancient Volcano (Gunung Api Purba). Formed millions of years ago, this extinct volcano is one of Java’s oldest geological formations. The moderate hike takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours and rewards visitors with spectacular panoramic views of lush forests, rolling hills, and the surrounding countryside.

After descending, we will visit Embung Nglageran, a scenic hilltop reservoir built to support the local fruit plantations, surrounded by beautiful landscapes. It offers a peaceful setting and stunning views of ancient volcanic hills.

Following lunch, we will continue our journey to the magnificent Prambanan Temple, Indonesia’s largest Hindu temple complex and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built in the 9th century, Prambanan is dedicated to the Hindu Trinity – Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva – and is renowned for its soaring stone towers and beautifully carved reliefs depicting the epic story of the Ramayana.

Enjoy time exploring this remarkable archaeological site and admiring one of Southeast Asia’s greatest cultural treasures.

In the afternoon, we will drive to Yogyakarta for hotel check-in.

Day 5 – Borobudur Temple Discovery (Overnight in Yogyakarta)

Today, we will travel to the magnificent Borobudur Temple, the world’s largest Buddhist monument and one of Indonesia’s most treasured cultural landmarks. Located in the lush Kedu Plain and surrounded by volcanic mountains, Borobudur has been recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1991.

Built during the 8th and 9th centuries by the Syailendra Dynasty, Borobudur is an architectural masterpiece consisting of nine stacked platforms crowned by a central dome. The temple is decorated with more than 2,600 intricate stone relief panels and 504 Buddha statues, illustrating Buddhist teachings and the spiritual journey from the earthly world to enlightenment.

As you explore this remarkable monument, your guide will share the fascinating history, symbolism, and restoration of the temple, while you admire the exquisite carvings and breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Borobudur is not only a place of historical significance but also an active pilgrimage site for Buddhists from around the world, making it one of Southeast Asia’s most inspiring cultural attractions.

Day 6 – Yogyakarta – Surakarta (Solo) – Sukuh Temple – Tawangmangu (Overnight is Tawangmangu)

After breakfast, we will depart Yogyakarta and travel to the historic city of Surakarta, also known as Solo, the cultural heart of Central Java and one of the last remaining centres of the Javanese royal tradition.

Our first stop is the Keraton Surakarta (Surakarta Royal Palace), the official residence of the Susuhunan of Surakarta. Established in 1774, the palace remains an important centre of Javanese culture, where centuries-old traditions, royal ceremonies, classical music, dance, and traditional arts continue to be preserved. During our guided visit, you will gain insight into the history of the Mataram Kingdom and discover the cultural heritage that has shaped Javanese society.

We will continue our journey towards the cool highlands of Tawangmangu, stopping along the way to visit the fascinating Sukuh Temple. Perched on the western slopes of Mount Lawu at an elevation of approximately 900 metres above sea level, Sukuh Temple was built during the 15th century, towards the end of the Majapahit Kingdom. Unlike most Hindu temples in Indonesia, Sukuh features a distinctive pyramid-shaped structure reminiscent of Mesoamerican architecture. The temple is renowned for its unique stone carvings and symbolism representing fertility, purification, and the cycle of life, making it one of the most intriguing archaeological sites in Java.

After visiting the Sukuh temple, we will visit the scenic mountain village of Tawangmangu, famous for its cool climate, lush forest, and breathtaking landscape. Here. We will enjoy a leisurely trek through picturesque villages, terraced vegetable farms, pine forests, and beautiful countryside.

Along the way, you will have the opportunity to experience the peaceful atmosphere of rural Java, observe local farming activities, and admire spectacular views of Mount Lawu, one of Central Java’s most sacred volcanoes.

After the trek, we will check into our hotel and enjoy a relaxing evening in the refreshing mountain air.

Day 7 – Tawangmangu – Malang (Overnight in Malang)

After breakfast, we will leave the cool highlands of Tawangmangu and begin our overland journey to Malang, one of East Java’s most charming colonial cities. Today’s drive offers a wonderful opportunity to experience the changing landscape of Java, from misty mountain scenery and fertile agricultural land to traditional villages and bustling towns.

As we travel eastwards, you will witness the island’s diverse countryside, where rice terraces, sugarcane plantations, and tobacco fields stretch across the landscape, with magnificent volcanic peaks providing a dramatic backdrop.

Upon arrival in Malang, often referred to as the City of Flowers, you will notice its pleasant climate, tree-lined streets, and well-preserved Dutch colonial architecture. Established during the Dutch East Indies period, Malang has long been recognised as one of Indonesia’s most attractive highland cities, combining historical charm with a relaxed atmosphere.

The remainder of the day is free for you to unwind after the journey. You may choose to relax at the hotel or take a leisurely walk around the surrounding area and enjoy the city’s welcoming ambience.

Day 8 – Malang City Tour – Bromo (Overnight in Bromo)

After breakfast, we will begin exploring the charming city of Malang, renowned for its pleasant climate, colonial heritage, and vibrant local culture.

Our first stop is Kampung Warna-Warni Jodipan (Jodipan Colourful Village), one of Malang’s most iconic attractions. Once an ordinary riverside neighbourhood, the village has been transformed into a vibrant open-air art destination, with brightly painted houses, colourful murals, and creative street art. Today, stands as an inspiring example of community revitalisation through art and tourism, offering countless opportunities for memorable photographs.

Next, we will visit Eng An Kiong Temple, the oldest Chinese temple in Malang, established in 1825. Dedicated to Kwan Kong (Guan Yu), the temple is an important place of worship for the local Chinese-Indonesian community. Its beautifully decorated halls, intricate carvings, and traditional Chinese architecture reflect the city’s rich multicultural heritage and centuries of cultural harmony.

We will continue our journey to the legendary Mount Bromo region. The scenic drive takes us through picturesque countryside, traditional villages, and fertile farmlands before ascending into the cool highlands of Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park.

Day 9 – Mount Bromo Sunrise Experience – Kalibaru (Overnight in Kalibaru)
Good morning!

An early start awaits as we depart before dawn for one of Indonesia’s most unforgettable experiences – the spectacular Mount Bromo Sunrise Tour.

Travelling by 4WD Jeep, we will make our way to one of the famous sunrise viewpoints overlooking Mount Bromo, Mount Batok, and the towering Mount Semeru, the highest volcano on the island of Java. As the first rays of sunlight illuminate the volcanic landscape, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views across the vast Sea of Sand, creating one of the most iconic natural spectacles in Indonesia.

After sunrise, we will continue by Jeep across the Sea of Sand to the base of Mount Bromo. From here, take a walk to reach the staircase leading to the crater rim. Standing at the edge of the active crater, you can witness the dramatic volcanic scenery while learning about the unique culture of the Tenggerese people, who consider Mount Bromo a sacred mountain and continue to practise ancient Hindu traditions.

After returning to the hotel for breakfast and check-out, we will begin our overland journey to Kalibaru, a peaceful town surrounded by plantations and tropical countryside in East Java.

Along the way, enjoy the ever-changing scenery as we pass through fertile farmland, coffee and cocoa plantations, and traditional villages. Upon arrival in Kalibaru, check in to your hotel and enjoy a relaxing evening in this tranquil plantation region.

After breakfast, we will depart from Kalibaru and continue our journey towards the island of Bali. Travelling to Ketapang Harbour, we will board the local ferry for a short crossing over the Bali Strait to Gilimanuk Harbour, the western gateway to the island of the Gods.

Upon arrival in Bali, we will continue by road to the peaceful coastal village of Pemutaran, located on Bali’s unspoilt north-west coast. Far from the busy tourist centres of southern Bali, Pemutaran is renowned for its tranquil atmosphere, crystal-clear waters, and successful marine conservation projects. The village lies adjacent to the West Bali National Park, making it one of the island’s premier eco-tourism destinations.

After checking into the hotel, the remainder of the day is free for you to relax. Take a stroll along the black volcanic sand beach, enjoy the tropical surroundings, or unwind by the pool while embracing the slower pace of northern Bali.

For marine enthusiasts, join an optional snorkelling or diving excursion to the world-famous Menjangan Island, celebrated for its exceptional coral reefs, crystal-clear waters, and abundant tropical marine life. As part of the West Bali National Park Marine Reserve, Menjangan offers some of the finest underwater experiences in Indonesia.

If you would like to immerse yourself in Balinese culture, you may choose to participate in an optional Balinese Cooking Class. Learn how to prepare authentic local dishes using fresh herbs, spices, and traditional cooking techniques before enjoying the delicious meal you have created.
